Stargazing Tour

The southern sky, which you cannot see from Brazil.

The tour drives up to San José de Maipo, in Cajón del Maipo, away from Santiago’s light, to watch the southern sky with a guide explaining the stars, planets and constellations visible that night.

The southern sky is not visible from Brazil: the Southern Cross is, but the Magellanic Clouds and much of what you can see here never rise in the northern hemisphere. Departure follows sunset and shifts through the year, and with heavy cloud the tour can be cancelled a few hours before.

If the mountain road closes

The mountain road can close for bad weather or heavy snow, and that call is the authorities’, not ours. If it happens and the tour is cancelled, we refund 100% of what you paid or move it to another day of your trip, free of charge. Your choice, not ours.

Questions and answers

Is the safari safe?

You cross the big-cat area in a caged bus: the lions climb on top of the vehicle and nobody gets out. The ticket also covers the herbivore tour, with giraffes, zebras and llamas.

Is there a guide inside the park?

No. The tour covers transport from Santiago and the tickets; inside Parque Safari there is no guide with you, and the Jurassic Tour and other extras are paid separately.

What if it is cloudy on the stargazing tour?

Under heavy cloud you see nothing, which is why the tour can be cancelled a few hours before. If that happens you do not lose what you paid.

What time does the stargazing tour leave?

Departure follows sunset and shifts through the year — earlier in winter. The tour page shows this season’s time.

Does the guide speak Portuguese?

Yes, from pickup to drop-off. Not a recording, not a translation app.

Do you pick up at my hotel?

Yes, at any hotel in central Santiago, Providencia, Las Condes and Vitacura. If yours is outside that area, we agree on a nearby meeting point.

Can I pay in Brazilian reais?

Yes. We take Pix and cards, at the rate locked when you book. The balance can also be paid in pesos on the day.

What if I need to cancel?

Free cancellation and rescheduling up to 24 hours before departure.
